Dear Justin and fellow brothers and sisters,
In the book of Genesis and Jubilees we see that Sarai (Sarah) was portrayed as a sister to Abraham. Abraham said she is indeed his sister the daughter of his father but not the daughter of his mother. But in the book of Jasher we see that it is written that Sarai is the daughter of his brother Haran making her his niece. Also, in the book of Jasher it is mentioned that Abraham was 11 years old when he went to live with Noah but in the book of Jubilees it says that he was 14 when he decided to separate himself from his father. Furthermore, the age of Haran in the book of Jubilees contradicts the age of Haran in the book of Jasher regarding the year that he took a wife and bore him a son. To end the discussion, also the way that the idols were destroyed in Jubilees 12 against Jasher 11-12 and the way Haran died. Can someone please give some light on this matter. Please. Is the book of Jasher a book that can be fully trusted? Please correct me in whatever i am wrong. All Praises to the Most High Creator YAHUAH through Mashiak YAHUSHA.
Kind Regards.
In Hebrew, sister can mean close relative, and daughter can mean grand daughter. The terms are a bit ambiguous. This is why Leviticus 18 & 20 needed to very precisely detail out the definition of a close relative for sexual immorality.
Living with Noah, and separating from his father, can be 2 separate events.
I don't think any book can be "fully" trusted. When it comes to Jubilees and Jasher, we typically rely on an English translation that we don't have a convenient interlinear or concordance to help us validate the translators choices. That alone is a huge problem that could both be the cause of discrepancies, or cover ups of discrepancies.
