Was just attempting to look at this in Hebrew with a strong's concordance on e-sword and I think YAH may have just shown me a (purposeful?) mistranslation. Would like to know you guys' thoughts, especially if any of you can read the original Hebrew. You can also use biblehub to compare modern English translations and see they're all kinda the same here.
Aight so here we go, even in the KJV the verse reads "He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die."
In Hebrew according to e-sword it reads
שׁמר מצוה שׁמר נפשׁו בוזה דרכיו יומת׃
So if I'm putting the English transliterations (according to e-sword) in order it reads "shâmar mitsvâh shâmar nephesh bâzâh derek mûth:"
And laying it out just using some of the words basic definitions (in sort of caveman/tribal speak) in my opinion it reads as Guard/keep/observe command/law/ordinance/precept guard/keep/observe life despise/disdain/contempt road/course of life/custom/[path-]way die:
So in my own opinion I believe the verse reads something along the lines of (in caveman/tribal speak) Guard commands, guard life, despise way, die:
I believe this may just simply be further proof that the "Ancient" (wouldn't call Solomon one of the ancients) Ivriym (Hebrews) had a knowledge of Messiah, who Himself states "I AM the way" this verse in my opinion also being part of where He "got" such a concept from.
Awesome! Love the gif lol
Good research
If I may offer an amplification: “He that watches, preserves, carefully guards (shamar) the instructions, teachings (mitsvah) preserves and carefully guards (shamar) his inner being, thoughts, emotions (nephesh); the one that despises, holds in contempt, disrespect and disdains (bazah) His ways, journey and path (Derek) shall die (mut). The Torah is where we find His way to salvation. His 7 steps he has given us gives us life (Pesach), covers our sin (unyeasted bread) and adopts us into His family-oriented covenant (first fruits). 7 shabbats empowers us with the Ruach Hakodesh (feast of weeks). This, the Messiah Yahosha fulfilled for us. This is The Way to redemption.
I greatly enjoyed your post, thank you very much for it!
👍👍
“In caveman/tribal speak” yay! I think I’m going to understand you Dr Failtastic(?), if by that you are meaning stumbling and scrabbling over the boulders and rocks (evil translations for thousands of years etc!) they put there, trying to stop us finding the way .... whilst Yeshua calls us and encourages to keep going, keep following him.... our Shepherd...our Saviour. Thank you Batman 🙂
Yeah kinda, the way I see it is the sort of "simple" "caveman"/tribal speak IS simpler but requires a person to have a more deep emotional, mental, and spiritual understanding of what the person is saying to understand, like being on the same wavelength as that person. Almost like you can't just think and understand mentally about what the person is saying but you also must FEEL what they are saying. Yes I know it sounds kind of wrong but I mean being in tune with all three, not just compensating with one, sort of like you can't be all "spirit" and no "letter, or all "letter" and no "spirit". Again sort of like being on the same vibration/wavelength. Idk, I just personally like the tribal speak (Hebrews were a tribal people) BECAUSE of how simple (therefore probably also easily translatable) it is. Maybe to sort of help give a slightly better concept of what I mean look up some Far Cry Primal cutscenes.
Yes, the Hebrews were tribal.... I’ve been contemplating on that recently which is why I enjoyed your post. I think, there is a distinct difference between a tribal heart and a .... corporate (‘heartless’) existence. That’s probably completely off this topic, but I’m random like that.
Reading can heal your knowledge really well and you can easily improve yourself. And whenever i need help writing an essay I get this from best places because I have knowledge about this.
